The rapid advancement of technology has significantly impacted the energy sector, which is currently undergoing substantial changes aimed at increasing energy efficiency and sustainability, particularly through renewable energy sources.
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), renewable sources now account for nearly 30% of global electricity production, a figure that is expected to grow. This increase in renewable energy production has heightened the demand for virtual power plants (VPPs), which efficiently manage this production and ensure grid stability.
By leveraging technologies such as IoT devices, digital platforms, and advanced analytics, VPPs optimize energy production and distribution. These systems integrate renewable sources, such as solar panels and wind turbines, with conventional energy sources.
We spoke with Sara Matek, Key Account Manager at ENNA Next, about the role of VPPs in the energy sector.
